Our Team

Many of our team volunteers are survivors themselves. This unique perspective informs the way they engage with the community, bringing empathy and understanding to their roles. Their experiences motivate them to foster a supportive environment where others can find healing and strength.

By sharing their stories, they create a secured space for dialogue and connection. This shared journey not only empowers the volunteers but also inspires those they serve, illustrating that recovery is possible. Each volunteer's commitment to helping others reflects the resilience that defines our community, showcasing the power of collective healing.

Through their dedication, these individuals demonstrate that while scars may remain, they do not define one’s future. Instead, they become a testament to survival, encouraging others to embrace their paths toward recovery.

  • Founder and Executive Director

Carmen's journey with Christ began in her early teens in New York, igniting a lifelong mission rooted in faith and compassion. As a young woman, she embraced the calling of youth ministry and played a pivotal role in establishing the "House of Prayer" church in Brooklyn in 1989 alongside her uncle. Her deep commitment to ministry evolved in 2008 when she received a vision to support women survivors of trauma—a vision that culminated in the founding of Precious Jewels Ministry in 2013.

Her work took a transformative turn in 2017 when she joined "The Elizabeth House," a women’s safe haven led by Sandra Preston at Faith Assembly. This experience profoundly shaped her mission, inspiring Carmen to focus on helping broken women rebuild their lives and heal from past traumas. That’s how Mending The Scarred was created under the umbrella of Precious Jewels Ministry. To become a precious jewel you must start the journey of mending your scarred heart.

Today, Carmen stands as a powerful advocate for restoration, providing a sanctuary where women can find hope, inner healing, and the courage to create a new future.
