Our Vision
Our Story
Mending The Scarred was founded by Carmen Alonso, a woman deeply committed to helping those who are broken find hope and healing. Carmen’s journey began when she volunteered to lead a domestic violence awareness session at a Ladies’ God Encounter conference. To her surprise, the room was filled with women who were currently enduring abuse and living with their abusers. Heartbroken and moved by their courage, Carmen approached the pastor with a proposal: to offer a monthly class to raise awareness and provide support for women facing domestic violence. The pastor quickly embraced Carmen’s vision, giving her the green light to start what would become a life-changing mission.
Since its humble beginnings in 2017, Mending The Scarred has grown into a powerful community of support and transformation. Carmen’s encounters with survivors have been both humbling and inspiring, revealing the incredible resilience of those she serves. Today, Mending The Scarred carries forward its mission, offering hope, strength, and healing to women overcoming domestic violence and all forms of brokenness.
Our Mission
Our mission is to deliver essential life-saving support that empowers women survivors of trauma to regain freedom, heal, become self-reliant, and flourish.
Our focus is to educate, equip, and empower these women in our communities.
Goals
To be able to provide women victims with counseling and assistance in obtaining employment, shelter, financial assistance, food, clothing, medical attention, educational and social services that will contribute to our community and inspire success.
To obtain a transitional housing aiming to provide a secure, short-term home for women looking to rebuild their lives after experiencing trauma. We recognize the critical need for secure housing and we are working to establish this program in Florida.
