Mending The Scarred: A Love Story | Mending The Scarred is, at its heart, a love story. It’s about love that sees brokenness and responds with compassion, love that turns pain into purpose, and love that builds a community where healing flourishes. It all began with Carmen Alonso, a woman whose heart overflowed with love for those who felt invisible, trapped, or forgotten. In 2017, Carmen was asked to lead a domestic violence awareness session at a Ladies’ God Encounter conference. What she thought would be a small, educational talk turned into a profound moment of revelation. The room was filled—not with women simply seeking information, but with survivors quietly bearing the weight of abuse, many still living with their abusers. As Carmen listened to their stories, her heart broke, but it also awakened. She couldn’t walk away from their courage or their need. Determined to do more, she approached the pastor with an idea born of love: to offer a monthly class for women enduring domestic violence. The pastor didn’t hesitate, embracing her vision and giving her the green light to turn her idea into action. What began as a simple class soon became a sanctuary. It was a place where women could find not just resources but understanding. It was where tears gave way to laughter and fear yielded to strength. Over time, Mending The Scarred grew into a vibrant community—one that thrived on the love and resilience of its members. The beauty of Mending The Scarred isn’t just in Carmen’s vision; it’s in the women who have walked the journey from brokenness to restoration and now give back. Survivor volunteers—women who once sat in that same room, unsure if hope was possible—now serve as mentors, teachers, and pillars of support. Their love for others mirrors the love they received, creating a ripple effect of healing and empowerment. | |

| Today, Mending The Scarred stands as a beacon of hope. It’s a place where love turns despair into courage, and where no one walks alone. With every embrace, every encouraging word, and every act of service, the mission continues: to mend what’s scarred, restore what’s broken, and remind every woman that she is worthy of love, strength, and a brighter tomorrow. | |

It’s a chance to show a woman who has suffered that she is seen, valued, and worthy of the care and healing she so desperately needs.
